DOMESTIKASI TANAMAN GAHARU (Gyrinops versteegil) DI PROPINSI DAERAH ISTIMEWA JOGJAKARTA DAN JAWA TENGAH

The gaharu (agarwood) is one of the endangered species that has high beneficial economic. The increase of agar wood species degradation is caused by over exploitation. The effort is domicating agarwood plantation is important for sustainability. The fact supporting Super Agricultural University especially Agro ecological Research Agency to planting agarwood plantation in Yogyakarta Province and Center Java Province. This programme was joining activities among Forestry Department Agency of Sleman Regency, the group of farmer, local society, and Stiper Agricultural University. The site of agarwood domestication are Yogyakarta Province (there are three site of demplot: Turi, Cangkringan, and Pakem districts) and than Central Java Province (Sukoharjo and Karanganyar Regencies). The result of agarwood plantation growth is good. The percentage of the survival plantation was more than 80 %. Furthermore the rate of high growth is 2,3 cm per month and the rate of diameter growth is 0,24 cm per month. Key words: agarwood, domestication
